During an intimate christening ceremony in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the newest 5-star ship, AMADEUS Nova, was welcomed to the luxury AMADEUS fleet. In addition to the elegant interior design, the environmental standard represents a new generation of passenger ships: A hybrid, diesel-electric propulsion system significantly reduces CO2 emissions. A control and positioning system promotes safety and increases fuel efficiency simultaneously. Innovative filters and catalytic converters reduce air pollutants almost completely. Solar panels provide electricity, and a clever recovery system makes heat reusable onboard. Special glass fronts also keep heat effects to a minimum. All AMADEUS ships have been awarded the Green Award.
After the ceremony and blessing, all the guests were taken on a harbor cruise to get to know the spacious AMADEUS Nova. The 135-meter-long ship was built at the Dutch shipyard TeamCo Shipyard and sails under German flag. For 158 guests on four decks, the AMADEUS Nova offers plenty of comfort at the 5-star level: in 12 spacious suites with balconies, 67 outside cabins with retractable panoramic windows, wind-protected lounges, a gallery with a café, spa, and fitness areas, and a pool on the sun deck.
Her 8-day maiden voyage via Vienna and Budapest, Bratislava and Linz depart from Passau in Bavaria after the christening on June 15. The AMADEUS Nova will sail on the Rhine and Danube with around 13 departures in 2024 during its maiden season.
